Hey there, foodies!

Some of the best experiences I like to have are, as many of you, going out to eat. And since having brunch has become a more and more requested gastronomic experience, today I will be speaking about a new brunch cafe that me and my friend Daniela have tried recently.

Although brunch places have been more and more popular lately, there are not many that I think are worth the hype. Most of them are overpriced, or the food is way too elaborated for my taste or the servings are not very generous.

A few days ago, we went to a place called Mugs Brunch Coffee. Mugs is a small cafe in Mem-Martins. It’s quite small, it only has two tables inside, but it has quite a few outside on the sidewalk. The decoration inside was kind of tropical-boho and it gives it a trendy and fun look. The location itself is not the best, to be honest. This area of Sintra is mostly residential, and not the prettiest one around. It also doesn’t have many interesting attractions to visit nearby, so there are not many purposes to actually go there. However, I would consider this to be a small not so positive detail.

I was very impressed with everything else! We decided to ask for three different dishes and split them between us two. We also asked for some fresh fruit juices, and their staff was the loveliest and offered to personalize the juices to our taste with whatever fruits or veggies we wanted. I asked for a banana, mango and spinach one, and Daniela asked for mango, banana and strawberry. Both of them were delicious!

For starters, we asked for an avocado toast with a poached egg on top - this is a dish I love doing at home, however boiled eggs are not my friends. They always end up being a mess and ruin my avocado toast. This one was perfect! The egg was perfectly poached, the avocado was seasoned with lemon and it tasted like heaven.

Next up we asked for eggs Benedict. I had only tried them once before, and these ones were far better! They let us choose from bacon or salmon to go with it. We chose bacon, and it also came with a beans salad and a leaves salad (which I personally don’t eat but they looked amazing).

We saved the sweet dish for last, and ordered a serving of pancakes with Nutella and fruit. It came with banana, strawberries and blueberries - besides the fruit, it also came with some granola on top. The dose was pretty generous, like the previous dishes. The pancakes were some of the softest I’ve ever had in the city.

These three dishes were more than enough for both of us to split, and we ended up paying 23.90 EUR for everything! Most brunch places around the city are more expensive, and many of them are not half as good as this one.

Although this wouldn’t be a place I would usually go to, simply for its location, I was pleasantly surprised and so so happy that we decided to come here!
