Hi there!
Cascais, my hometown, is a small villa in the outskirts of Lisbon - but small doesn’t mean uninteresting! This is probably one of the most picturesque villas of the country, and has so many beautiful corners to explore.
If you’ve ever visited the villa, you have probably come across this view:

This is the town lighthouse, which is called Farol de Santa Marta. The thing I didn’t know about is: the view from the top is as breathtaking (or even more) than the view from the bottom!
The entrance to the museum and lighthouse costs 2 EUR (1 EUR for Cascais residents), so it’s a fair price to pay for this attraction since the museum is super small.
The most interesting fact we learned about it is that it used to be just a small tower when it was built back in 1868, however they have decided to extend it by 8 meters in 1936, which is the result we see today.

Today, we decided to visit it. The lighthouse museum has some information about some lighthouses and also some of their lamps for you to check out, but to be honest it is a very small museum and the most exciting part is to visit the lighthouse itself.

That’s it for today! A small post, I know, but I just really wanted to share this little discovery of today and make sure it is added to your Cascais list.
See ya in the next one!
